Searching the database
The Script Database contains scripts from TNG and DS9. To search the scripts, simply enter the desired search term and hit the Search button.
There are several advanced search functions:
- (no operators)
- By default (when neither + nor - is specified) the word is optional, but the scripts that contain it will be rated higher.
- +
- A leading plus sign indicates that this word must be present in the script.
- -
- A leading minus sign indicates that this word must not be present in the script.
- ( )
- Parentheses are used to group words into subexpressions. Parenthesized groups can be nested.
- *
- An asterisk is the truncation operator. For example, Vulcan* would find 'Vulcan', 'Vulcans', 'Vulcanis'.
- " "
- A phrase that is enclosed within double quotes finds only scripts that contain the phrase literally, as it was typed.
Please note that searches are case-insensitive. This means that DATA also finds 'Data', 'data' or 'DaTa'.

In many cases, these scripts differ from actual episodes as aired. Some scenes may have been (heavily) rewritten or cut. To this author's notice, these scripts were not edited in any way.
